Welcome to Prism and the services we offer.
Prism is the operating name of the Mid and West Wales Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service. Prism’s purpose is to bring relief to individuals and communities in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Neath-Port Talbot and Powys by the provision of a range of non-stigmatising, evidence-based alcohol and drug services. Specifically this will include the:
- Promotion of the non-use or sensible use of alcohol.
- Promotion of the non-use of illicit drugs and the appropriate use of legal drugs.
- Provision of effective help for those experiencing alcohol or drug related problems.
Prism has the following goals:
1. Prism will aim to provide individuals and communities across mid and west Wales with the highest quality substance misuse services possible that are transparent, promote health and well being, effect positive change and are evidence-based.
a. Clients, and their successful journey through services, will be at Prism’s core.
b. Prism will be the leading organisation in substance misuse service provision in Dyfed Powys in 5 years.
c. Focussing primarily on current service delivery areas, where appropriate Prism will be involved across all areas of substance misuse and related service provision.
d. Services will be integrated across drug and alcohol use into substance misuse services.
e. Prism will develop and implement meaningful systems for consultation with service users.
f. Prism will define and work to a set of service standards.
g. Prism will improve and expand its premises to assist in the delivery of quality services.
h. Prism will develop measurement and reporting systems to ensure the goals are met.
2. Prism will be a diverse organisation valuing staff qualifications and experience and promoting training and professional development, effective supervision and communication.
a. Prism will improve workforce personal and professional development ensuring that there is a core training programme for all staff.
b. There will be clarity about each persons’ status, roles and responsibilities within the organisation.
Prism Funding
Most of Prism’s services are free at the point of delivery. Prism receives funding to provide its services from the following:
- Hywel Dda Health Board
- Welsh Assembly Government
- Home Office
- All Wales Probation Trust
- County Councils for Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
- Youth Justice Board.
Prism Locations
Prism has a number of local office and service bases throughout the area. We aim to see our service users in these premises or those of partner and referring agencies.
